Supporting your Child at School
Many children with autism and/or ADHD benefit from additional support and reasonable adjustments at school, but this is not always put in place automatically. When needs are not fully understood or met, this can affect a child’s behaviour, wellbeing, and longer-term mental health.
Communication between home and school is vital, though navigating school systems and explaining your child’s needs can feel challenging. You’re not alone. With the right support, it becomes easier to work collaboratively with school staff so your child feels understood, supported, and able to thrive.
“School mornings became a battlefield.
We didn’t understand why our child suddenly seemed
so scared to go in”

I can support you to understand and meet your child’s needs in school, guiding you through the SEND Code of Practice and Psychology research evidence, including around Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA).
Together, we can identify what helps your child feel safe at school and what feels challenging, so we can explore reasonable adjustments that make school more accessible.
